Tata Sierra adult occupant protection score
The Tata Sierra adult occupant protection score is 31.14 out of 32 points. This is the highest score possible for this category and places the Sierra among the top performers in its segment.
This test simulates what happens when a car hits a barrier head-on similar to hitting another car or a stationary object in a real accident. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Sierra provided good protection to the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet. The chest and tibiae received adequate protection.

All the critical parts of the co-driver, except the right tibia, received good protection.
In simple terms the driver and passenger sitting in the front are well protected in a head-on collision. The chest and lower legs received slightly lower scores but still within the adequate range meaning meaningful protection was provided.
In the frontal offset deformable test, the Sierra scored a high 15.14 out of 16 with a perfect score of 16 out of 16 for the side movable deformable barrier test.

Tata Sierra child occupant protection score
The Tata Sierra child occupant protection score is 44.73 out of 49 points. This is also a five-star result and shows that children riding in the Sierra are well protected in crash scenarios.
The 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were facing the rearward direction in the child occupant protection test. Both dummies were placed in child restraint seats — the kind of child seats that parents use in real cars.
Both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies, positioned in rear-facing child seats, showed excellent protection in crash simulations.
The Sierra scored a high 23.73 out of 24 in the dynamic tests, along with a full score of 12 out of 12 in CRS installation tests, ensuring that the child seats are fitted firmly and securely for adequate protection.
The full 12 out of 12 in CRS installation is a perfect score. It means the child seat mounting points on the Sierra are correctly placed and accessible making it easy for parents to fit and secure a child seat properly. A correctly fitted child seat is just as important as the crash performance itself.
In terms of the vehicle assessment score, the Sierra scored 9 out of 13, which though decent, still leaves slight room for improvement.
The vehicle assessment section looks at features like seat belt reminder systems, speed alert systems, and other passive safety elements. A score of 9 out of 13 is good not perfect but it does not affect the overall 5-star rating which was achieved comfortably across both adult and child protection categories.
The Sierra comes equipped with safety features in the form of six airbags, seat-belt reminder system, speed alert system, ABS with EBD, ESP, VDC, ROM, CSC, HAC, HBA, BDW, TCS, and DST. The higher variants boast additions in the form of TPMS, HDC, Level 2 ADAS, and rear occupant sensors.
