The MG Windsor EV has crossed the significant milestone of 50,000 unit sales in India since its launch. The electric crossover SUV has quickly established itself in the growing Indian EV market.

Launch and Booking Details of MG Windsor EV

The MG Windsor EV was launched in India on September 11, 2024. Bookings for the Windsor EV started on October 3, 2024, with deliveries beginning from October 12. The MG Windsor EV received a strong response at the pre-launch booking stage in India. On the very first day of official bookings, MG Motor secured an impressive 15,176 bookings. This marked the highest single day booking number for any electric vehicle in India at that time.

The model was positioned between MG’s Comet EV and the ZS EV in the Indian portfolio. The car became popular quickly, with more than 50,000 units sold within just over a year of launching.

The MG Windsor EV is offered in three variants: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence. Prices initially began at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level Excite variant. The top-spec Essence Pro variant is priced around ₹18.39 lakh. A Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option is available in which customers can rent the battery, paying ₹3.5 per kilometer to reduce the upfront cost.

The MG Windsor EV is powered by a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor, producing 136 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. The battery options include a 37.9 kWh and a 50.6 kWh pack. The larger battery variant offers a claimed range of up to 460 kilometers on a single charge.

The car features a large 15.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, the largest MG has offered in India. It also sports a 12.3-inch digital driver display. Interior features include wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, powered driver’s seat, power tailgate, and a panoramic glass roof exclusive to the Indian version.

Safety features include six airbags, a 360-degree camera system, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, and advanced driver assistance features up to Level 2 autonomy such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist anticipated in upgraded versions.
